太陽は常に東から昇りますが、正確な位置は一年を通して変わります。真東から昇るのは春分と秋分のときだけで、春から秋は東より北寄り、秋から春は東より南寄りになります。上で場所と日付を入力すると、正確な日の出の方角がわかります。
太陽は日の出と対称に西へ沈みます。分点では真西、夏は西より北寄り、冬は西より南寄りに沈みます。計算機は任意の場所と日付の正確な日の入りの方角（方位角）を表示します。
いいえ。真東になるのは2回の分点（3月20日頃と9月22日頃）だけです。それ以外は日の出の位置が北または南へずれ、緯度によって最大30〜40°変わります。赤道から離れるほどずれは大きくなります。

北半球の夏は、太陽は北東から昇り北西へ沈み、昼が長くなります。冬は南東から昇り南西へ沈み、昼が短くなります。南半球は逆です。
