Alpenglow v12.1 is out now, with full support for iPhone Duo and a brand new way to plan for sunrise and sunset: Vantage Point.
Made for iPhone Duo
Alpenglow makes full use of iPhone Duo's inner display, with every part of the app given room to breathe, and onboarding that splits neatly across the fold.
- Laptop pose: fold iPhone Duo partway and Vantage Point stands the scene up on the top half, with the map and time controls on the flat half below.
- Landscape: hold it open on its side and the map and the view sit side by side.
- Folded: every screen also works on the outer display, so tonight's forecast is a glance away.
Vantage Point
Long-press the map in Direction mode to stand at any spot and look around.
Vantage Point shows the real terrain, with the sun, moon and stars where they'll be at any time. First and last light are worked out over the actual skyline rather than a flat horizon, so you know when the sun will really clear that ridge, or drop behind it.
Scrub through the day to watch the light move, or tap the map to walk somewhere new.

Vantage Point is included with Alpenglow Pro on iPhone, iPad, iPhone Duo and Apple Vision Pro.
Also in v12.1
- Up to five saved locations with Pro, up from three.
- Refreshed map controls and a new Now button.
- More accurate AR, with compass calibration guidance.
- Saved locations, date picking and search on Apple Watch.
- Full-width layouts on iPad.
- A faster Outlook, a smoother map and quicker forecast tiles.
Alpenglow v12.1 is a free update for iPhone and iPad running iOS 18.6 or later. Don't forget you can also share your Alpenglow Pro subscription with up to five family members via Family Sharing.
